Trisha Paravas’ entrepreneurial spark ignited early. As an adolescent, she built her first company—a textile venture that helped her develop business skills early on. Her business acumen was undeniable: she introduced compelling marketing campaigns and subsequently sold the company to a competitor in India.
But her thirst for challenge was insatiable. “The purpose of the human mind is to expand knowledge and sharpen intellect—something achieved only by choosing the difficult path over the easy one,” Paravas emphasizes. “I had built something great in India, but I knew I wanted more.” That “more” led her to the U.S., where she secured a full scholarship to pursue an M.B.A. at an American university.
While Paravas boarded a flight from India to New York with just $180 in her pocket and nothing more than “American dream” stitched into her spirit, today, perhaps, she stands as the only self-made woman real-estate developer across all of the United States, and her journey—from a small town in India to the towering skyline of Manhattan—is nothing short of cinematic. “When I landed at JFK for the first time and visited Manhattan, I was overwhelmed by the tallest high-rise buildings,” she recalls.
After earning her M.B.A., Paravas entered Wall Street—the global centre of finance—and rapidly advanced through the ranks. Over more than a decade, she managed portfolios ranging from $500 million to $1 billion, specializing in derivatives, credit risk, market risk and SEC regulatory frameworks.
But true to her entrepreneurial instincts, Wall Street was only one chapter. While working full-time in finance, Paravas simultaneously launched a second venture in an entirely different industry—fashion—effectively managing two demanding careers for over a decade. It was during these years that her resilience was forged, shaped by the discipline and endurance required to succeed in two highly competitive fields.
Paravas is known for creating niche business categories; in 2013, she founded Fashion Week, Inc. (FWI) in New York City after identifying a clear gap in the market. At the time, traditional fashion shows were exclusive, invitation-only events. Paravas broke this long-standing model by pioneering “consumer fashion shows,” opening the runway to the public well before social media transformed access to fashion.

By creating this entirely new niche category, she challenged decades-old American fashion-industry norms and brought fashion directly to consumers, offering front-row access to a broader audience. Her approach attracted prominent designers and corporate sponsors, including JPMorgan Chase, and ultimately led to a successful exit.
Through this venture, Paravas demonstrated not only her ability to innovate across industries but also her strength in identifying underserved markets, timing opportunities effectively and anticipating consumer trends—qualities that would define her continued success.
Subsequently, in 2020, with two successful exits under her belt, Paravas turned to what many consider the toughest business arena: real-estate development in Manhattan.
Paravas states that she chose real-estate development as she was bored with the fashion and finance industries; thus her company Roche Investors launched the bold new initiative Roche Residencies. Her vision is to create five-star hotel-style luxury condominiums at price points accessible to Manhattan’s middle market—a segment often overlooked by large developers, another niche market segment.
As founder and CEO, Paravas leads every facet of the business. In a very male-dominated field led by legacy names and generational wealth, Paravas’ presence as a first-generation, self-made and self-funded entrepreneur is both rare and instructive.
“We’re not just building structures; we’re building differentiated experiences in a city that sets global benchmarks,” she says. “My vision is futuristic, clean energy and fashion-forward buildings.” Her approach integrates financial discipline with design-driven development—traits rooted in her background in finance, fashion and consumer-facing business.
Paravas is a dynamic leader defined by intellect, grit and determination. Her achievements span finance, fashion and real estate, and her leadership reflects strategic clarity, sharp market insight, legal business acumen, integrity and strong execution skills. “Had I known how demanding the real-estate industry is, I would have never dared an entry,” Paravas says. “Manhattan real-estate development is one of the most difficult careers due to its high-risk, extraordinarily demanding sector, and one must be prepared to be punched in the face daily from different directions. On top of it, there was an enormous learning curve for an outsider like me.”
Paravas’ story is a master class in resilience, and she emphasizes that innovation and execution are critical to founders in all sectors. From beating the odds in her teenage years to rewriting the rules in fashion, finance and real estate, she has shown the world what one woman can do with a clear vision and an indomitable will.
In an era hungry for authentic role models, Trisha Paravas is the real deal—a powerhouse and global entrepreneur.
